Teams set to do battle for Gary Parkinson Trophy
The Gary Parkinson Trophy is up for grabs this weekend as two teams take part in a fundraiser for the former Burnley, Preston and Blackpool player.
Parkinson was diagnosed with locked in syndrome after suffering a stroke in 2010 after this weekend's football fixture is the latest event to raise money for the Gary Parkinson Trust, which supports the former footballer.
The game, which takes place on Saturday (3pm) at CMB FC in Lostock, will see former Burnley, Blackpool and Preston player David Eyres - a close friend of Parkinson - line up along with ex-Preston man Ryan Kidd and Lee Turnbull, who played for Middlesbrough, another of Parkinson's former clubs.
The rest of the two squads are made up of friends and family who have each donated £25 to play while there will be a barbecue and a raffle after the game. The trophy up for grabs has been donated by Manchester firm Active Win.
